Question #1: How long can survivors stay at the Emergency Shelter?
Answer: Every situation of domestic violence is different. What works for one survivor will not always work for all. Survivors can stay at our shelter until their safety needs are met. The average stay is 35 days.

Question #2: Will I get my own room?
Answer:: Depending on the current census of the shelter, a family will share one room. We try to accommodate everyone so their comfort is met.

Question #3: Are the services confidential?
Answer: Yes, CAFV services are completely confidential. We will not disclose any information from your name, partner's name, etc. to anyone unless you have authorized us to do so.

Question #4: Can male survivors access services?
Answer:: Yes. Often, male survivors have the most difficult time confronting abusive situations because of shame, embarrassment, or other social expectations. CAFV works to provide safety for all victims of domestic violence regardless of age, sex, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

Question #5: How do I get to the Shelter?
Answer:: Most of our residents are transported by law enforcement (police, sheriff's department) after they make a call to our 24-hotline (593-7300 or 1 (800) 727-0511). However, for some survivors this is not an option. CAFV can make alternate arrangements for these situations.

Question #6: Is there a fee for services?
Answer: CAFV provides all victim services for no cost: Emergency Shelter and Family Resource Center.
There is a nominal fee for the Battering Intervention and Prevention Program.

Question #7: Where can I drop off donations?
Answer: Donations can be dropped off at CAFV's Ritzy Raggs Resale Store located at 8041 N. Mesa at the Crossroads Shopping Center.

Question #8: What is the difference between anger management and BIPP?
Answer: Anger management is for individuals who cannot control anger in any situation. These individuals may have road rage, become angry in public or at work, etc.
Domestic Violence accountablity groups provides behavior modification for individuals who are abusive to their partners. Overall, batterers control their anger very well. They do not become violent with people other than their partners. Domestic Violence accountability groups focus on equality in the relationship.

Question #9: Does CAFV offer services to teens?
Answer:Yes. Not only does CAFV provide presentations that educate teens about relationship or dating violence, but can offer services to teens 16-years-old and older, including emergency shelter.
